Spring 2015

Now that we are gearing up for another busy season we wanted to take a moment to update you all on the goings on at Hobbit Hole Farm. We have spent a long Winter Season planning, plotting, and vamping up for what we know will be our best season yet!

We recently had the opportunity to sit down with our local food hub partners-Lettuce Be Local-to debrief from 2014 and start to plan for the coming year!  As we reflect on the success of the 2014 season, we identify ways to increase efficiency  and productivity to better serve our customers.  As  spring planting rapidly approaches, we are excited and look forward to the continued growth with this amazing Central Mass Food Hub. We wholeheartedly continue to support them in their mission to support local business and make local food more accessible. If you haven't already checked them out we recommend doing so at www.lettucebelocal.com

This year brings an exciting blend of field trials for new crop varieties, crop management techniques and  harvesting methods! We look forward to bringing you some tasty new varieties this fall!

Please  keep checking in with us! We are looking forward to another wonderful and WARM growing season!

We’re a small family owned and operated farm with locations in Aroostook County, Maine, and Central Mass. We’re dedicated to the propagation and subsistence of classic heirloom varieties.

Hobbit Hole was founded on the belief that everyone should have easy access to delicious, wholesome, and completely natural food, without fear of what was sprayed on their food before it arrived to their dinner plate. We firmly believe that good food not only nourishes the body, but it can also help in the healing process of any ailments we encounter in our daily lives.

We favor the use of heirloom and open pollinating varieties, which have long stood the test of time, in every type of growing condition. We champion varieties which will do just as well in a damp year as they will in a dry, hot summer. They are the varieties your great-grandparents tended to in their kitchen gardens, and the ones which will long outlast hybridized and genetically modified strains.

We pride ourselves in providing you with the freshest produce you’ll be  proud to serve up to your family and friends, and let them experience the difference that heirlooms' provide, now and in the years to come. Please feel free to send us an email and let us know how we're doing, or if you have any questions or concerns you'd like addressed. We always appreciate feedback.
